The African Union says that the parties involved in the protracted conflict in Ethiopia’s north have expressed their wish for peace, security, and stability, but differ on how they will achieve this. It has been engaging with the federal government, the Tigray People ‘s Liberation Front and other groups through its horn of Africa envoy, Olusegun Obasanjo. The government of Prime minister Abiy Ahmed wants the TPLF to recognise its legitimacy but the TPLF threatens to oust the current leadership. The conflict which has gone on for more than a year, has triggered a humanitarian crisis that the United Nations Say has affected over 7 million people. Coletta Wanjohi reports from Addis Ababa.
