Abuja locals gave their unfiltered opinions on the recent rollout by the Nigerian government, consisting of a digital version of their national currency in Abuja on Tuesday.
“To be honest, I have not really done an in-depth research to learn what E-Naira has to offer and that’s because the first-hand information that I got about this, I was not impressed. It is not what I was expecting and I’m really not interested,” said cryptocurrency enthusiast Olusola Ladipo.
Officially launched later than planned, Nigeria has become the first African country to launch an online version of their currency, and hopes that it will improve cross-border trade more accessible.
