The African Union is asking the federal government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front to engage in political dialogue without any preconditions. This was one of the recommendations by the AU horn of Africa special envoy during an emergency session to discuss an update to the conflict in Ethiopia’s north. A conflict between the government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People Liberation Front and its affiliate groups has been running for over a year. The rebels are threatening to enter the capital Addis Ababa.
